In the course of your work, you may have to work with other companies. Find out how you can work together using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
Prerequisites: the collaboration mode described in this article only applies to users of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
You must have the following roles: 3DSWYMER; Collaborative Industry Innovator.
You may currently be in one of the following situations:
- Outsourcing the design of your parts to a subcontractor
- Temporary need to share with an external person
Did you know that the 3DEXPERIENCE platform can greatly facilitate collaboration between different companies?
Advantages: you can manage members' access rights, and keep track of the history and traceability of data, all at no extra cost!
Shared files are available on the same "server".
Step 1: Setting up the platform
A - Authorising staff access/roles/licences
The first step is to authorise employee access to your space, and to manage their access to your roles and licences.
On 3DEXPERIENCE, go to "Platform Management", the "Members" tab, then "Configure member options".
Activate the boxes :
- "Allow platform members to invite external users"
- "Allow administrators to grant roles without automatically assigning the associated licence".
Once you have set up your roles and licences, you now need to invite your collaborators to give them access.
B - Inviting collaborators
On the same page, still in the "Members" tab, click on "Invite and assign roles", then "Invite members".
A dialogue box opens:
Then click on "Next".
Select the roles to be assigned, and check the licensing and usage options.
Warning: If you forget to uncheck the "Assign a licence" box, your collaborator will consume one of your licences, which you have paid for.
Then click "Next".
You can invite as many members as you like, without using up your own licences.
Your colleague will receive an email with an invitation link to the platform.
Step 2: Sharing data
Now that everything is configured and your employees have been invited, you can use the platform to share your files.
You will then :
- Create a file-sharing server
- Manage backup folders
To do this, check out this tutorial!
Step 3: Edit/delete accesses
Once your project is complete, do you want to edit or delete your collaborators' access rights?
