Clean uninstallation of SOLIDWORKS Connected

How do I perform a clean uninstall of 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS® (SOLIDWORKS Connected), including registry keys and folders?

Standard Uninstall

In most cases, a standard uninstall is sufficient to resolve a problem that you have identified to be an installation problem.

  1. If you are working online, proceed to step 2. If you are working offline, start SOLIDWORKS® Connected, reconnect to your 3DEXPERIENCE platform, then close SOLIDWORKS Connected.
  2. Right-click the Start menu and select Apps and Features or Installed apps. (Or, access the installed apps list using Windows Settings.)
  3. Uninstall Dassault Systemes SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE R20XXx.
  4. Check that the installation folder has been deleted in %programfiles%\Dassault Systemes\SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE

Reinstall SOLIDWORKS Connected to see if the problem is resolved.

Intermediate Uninstall

In some cases, a standard uninstall may not be sufficient, and you may need to perform a more comprehensive uninstall.

  1. Perform steps 1-3 of the standard uninstall procedure.
    1. Dassault Systemes Software VC10 Prerequisites x86-x64In no particular order, uninstall:
    2. Dassault Systemes Software VC11 Prerequisites x86-x64
    3. Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable (x64)
    4. Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable (x86)

Reinstall SOLIDWORKS Connected to see if the problem is resolved.

Advanced Uninstall

In extremely rare cases, an intermediate uninstall may not be sufficient, and you may need to perform an even more comprehensive uninstall.

  1. Save your customer settings and templates:

  1. Perform steps 1-3 of the standard uninstall procedure.
  2. In no particular order, uninstall:
    1. 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher
    2. CEF for SOLIDWORKS Applications
    3. Dassault Systemes Software VC10 Prerequisites x86-x64
    4. Dassault Systemes Software VC11 Prerequisites x86-x64
    5. Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable (x64)
    6. Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable (x64)
    7. Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable (x86)
    8. Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Applications 2019
    9. WPTx64
  3. Uninstall Visual Basic (VBA) 7.1
    1. Download the attachment QA00000070487_uninstall_vba.bat.
    2. Right-click the file and select Run as administrator.

NOTE: If you see other versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable or Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Applications, then the recommendation is that you do not uninstall them for the following reasons:

  • A third-party application installed the other versions and requires them. Only uninstall other versions if you know the applications that installed them. Uninstalling other versions may affect the stability and functionality of third-party applications.
  • An older version of SOLIDWORKS Connected or SOLIDWORKS Desktop may have installed the other versions.

Folders clean-up

  1. Delete the following folders:

NOTE: Step 2 deletes some of these folders, some of these folders may not exist in your environment, and some of these folders may contain important user data like downloaded media, document templates, databases, and design library files.
We recommend you create a backup of the %public% and %programdata% folders before deletion.

%programfiles%\Dassault Systemes\SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE
%programfiles%\Common Files\SOLIDWORKS Shared
%programfiles(x86)%\Common Files\SOLIDWORKS Shared
%public%\Documents\Dassault Systemes
%public%\Documents\SOLIDWORKS
%programdata%\DassaultSystemes\3DEXPERIENCELauncher

%appdata%\DassaultSystemes
%appdata%\SolidWorks
%localappdata%\TempSWBackupDirectory
%localappdata%\DassaultSystemes
%localappdata%\SolidWorks
%temp%\swcefcache

Registry Keys clean-up

  1. Delete the following registry keys. Deleting the registry keys requires Windows administrative rights:

NOTE: Incorrectly editing the Windows Registry can severely damage your system. We recommend that you backup the keys before deleting them.
