3. Working offline

Need to use SOLIDWORKS without the internet? Discover offline mode.

Introduction

SOLIDWORKS Connected requires a stable internet connection to connect to 3DEXPERIENCE - otherwise it cannot function correctly. There may be times when you need to work without a connection (when travelling, etc.). Find out how to work offline.

Step 1: Before you start

1. Synchronise your data

Make sure that all recent changes to your files are saved and synchronised.

2. Check access to the files you need
You will no longer have access to your files saved on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Make sure you have all the files you need on your computer before going offline.

3. Limited functionality
Please note that some features that require a connection to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform will not be available: search bar, maturity status, etc.

However, the basic design tools will remain operational.

Step 2: Activate offline mode

1. If you do not already have it, create a shortcut to SOLIDWORKS on your desktop from the platform.

2. Open SOLIDWORKS, then click on Offline mode (in the top right-hand corner).

3. A dialog box opens:

Offline mode can be activated for up to 30 consecutive days before requiring a connection again.

Choose for how many days you wish to activate it, then click "OK".

You can now open SOLIDWORKS seamlessly from your desktop shortcut!

Step 3: Deactivate offline mode

Once you've finished working offline, you can deactivate this mode to synchronise your local modifications with your data in the cloud.

Warning: After reconnecting SOLIDWORKS to 3DEXPERIENCE, make sure that all changes are correctly synchronised on the platform.

Conclusion

By following these steps, you can take full advantage of SOLIDWORKS Connected's offline mode, ensuring that your work continues even without Internet access!
