3. Supplier parts library with Part Supply

With PartSupply, you can access a worldwide library of supplier-referenced 3D parts in just 2 clicks.

1. What for?

For example, if you need a standard hydraulic cylinder for a complex assembly, Part Supply lets you search for the part, compare it with other models, and integrate it directly into SolidWorks. 

This saves you time, ensures the accuracy of your choices, and simplifies the procurement process by using parts that already comply with industry standards and are available from suppliers. 

 

Step 1: Access Part Supply

  1. Open SolidWorks
  2. Make sure you are logged into your 3DEXPERIENCE workspace
  3. Navigate to the Part Supply application by clicking on :
    the 3DEXPERIENCE window > Design Library > PartSupply 3D Components
     

 

Step 2: Define the download folder

Before you start using Part Supply, you need to define a download folder in which the components will be temporarily stored: 

Click on Gear > Change location and choose a folder 

Step 3: Find a component

  1. Search by components : Access product families from the “Categories” tab
  2. Explore by catalog: From the “Catalog” tab, browse available supplier product ranges
  3. Use the search bar and filters: If you know exactly what you're looking for, type the part name or specifications into the search bar. 
    Refine results with filters such as size, material or supplier, by clicking on the label to the right of the bar.

Step 4: Find component details and insert in SolidWorks

Once you've found the component you're looking for,

  • Click on the component to display its details: View specifications, configuration and supplier

Note: From the “Similarity” tab, Part Supply shows you other components in the library with similar dimensions.




  • Insert the component in SolidWorks: Open the component, add it to your assembly or replace a part.

2. Find a similar part by scanning 3D geometry

If you already have a 3D model and are looking for a similar part in Part Supply :

  1. Select a component you have designed from your assembly
  2. Right-click > Search for a similar part in PartSupply
  3. Choose a part from the library and insert it into your assembly!

Tip: You can bookmark components by clicking on the star, and access them from the bookmark at the bottom of Part de Supply.
