VISUALIZE - Managing the movement of components

How to manage the movement of components in SOLIDWORKS VISUALIZE?

SOLIDWORKS Visualize allows you to generate photorealistic renderings for both static and mobile content. You will be able to import animations created on SOLIDWORKS Connected and bring them to life in SOLIDWORKS Visualize.

Examples of use:

  • Assembly range in context

  • Marketing video showing the product in action

  • Make the product attractive on your website by creating dynamic exploded views

Move a component

n SOLIDWORKS Visualize, moving components is relatively simple provided you know the pivot points of your parts. There are no constraints like in SOLIDWORKS.

There are two methods for moving a component:

Modes :

To select your part, you must first activate the part selection mode.

A selected part will be surrounded by a blue border.

To make it possible to move a component, you must activate the movement mode (just next to the part selection).

Once the component is selected, the possible movements will appear: 3 arrows for movement and 3 circles for rotation.

Note also the presence of pivots that serve to position the center of the trihedron.
To position there are two methods:

Manual positioning:

This is a quick but approximate positioning since the reference frame is placed approximately.
  • The movement is done by holding down the left mouse button on the arrows of the trihedron and then moving the cursor to the desired position.

OR

Positioning with coordinates :

It is also possible to move the part using numerical coordinates.

  • In the 'Model' tab
  • 'Transform' tab under 'Transform'

The “Reset” button allows you to place the part back to its original location (when the file is opened).

Change the center of the component marker:

To change the center of the reference of a component, there are two methods:

Manual positioning:

  • Select the pivot, a ball appears at the center of the trihedron

  • With the arrows, you can now move the center of the part’s pivot

OR

Positioning with coordinates:

  • In the 'Model' tab
  • 'Transform' tab under 'Transform'

It is not possible to use an edge of the component to position the reference center.

If you want to rotate your trihedron (in a position different from the main axes X, Y, Z) when positioning your center, you will need to uncheck the ‘Absolute’ by moving the component.
