Discover the maturity cycle on 3DEXPERIENCE to improve your file management.
Introduction
Managing revisions is essential for industrial companies. To implement them effectively, you first need to familiarize yourself with the concept of maturity. This will allow you to better manage revisions and branches in the future.
Understand the maturity cycle of objects.
The use of revision should be part of a design -> validation -> dissemination process, so it is closely linked to the lifecycle of your CATIA files.
Each file saved on 3DEXPERIENCE has the following maturity states:
- In Work : this is the default state - you can freely modify and save the object.
- Frozen : this is a temporary state - the object is read-only. You can still revert to the "In Progress" state.
Used when the part is awaiting validation. This prevents your colleagues from accidentally modifying the file if it is used in other assemblies.
- Released : this is a final state. It is not possible to revert to the "In Work" or "Frozen" states. The file is read-only permanently.
Usually, you release an object to indicate that it is entering production, and you create the associated STEP, PDF, DXF files, etc.
The usual process is as follows :
Modify the maturity state through the platform.
Go to the Bookmark Editor application and click on the maturity to modify it.
Switch to "Frozen" if you want to create a revision, but it has not yet been published.
Switch to "Released" if your file will be manufactured and converted (STEP, PDF, etc.).
Conclusion
Whether you work alone or within a large team, maturity states help you restrict changes, create revisions, and generally streamline collaboration.
This is integrated into 3DEXPERIENCE and constitutes the new standard in design.
You are now ready to create revisions, whether for SOLIDWORKS or CATIA.
