How to Manage a 3DEXPERIENCE License Renewal Efficiently?

If you're on a startup program, on a trial offer, or simply changing your subscriptions, you need to adjust your roles in 3DEXPERIENCE

Why is it important?

If you don't take these actions, you may not be able to launch 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS / CATIA and encounter the following error messages:

  • Unable to connect to 3DEXPERIENCE (not enough roles available)

'Failed to Get Login Ticket for [...] (2147467259)' Error Message When Launching SOLIDWORKS Connected - SWYFT Solutions

  • Express client/server express error (expired roles are on your profile)

Before the renewal date

1. Remove expired roles

The platform administrator needs to go to the "Platform Management" dashboard, then enable the option "Automatically Remove Expired Roles."

2. Remove members who will no longer have access.

Still on the "Platform Management" dashboard, remove access for members who will no longer have access to 3DEXPERIENCE after the renewal.

You will have two options:

  • Delete access: the user will no longer be able to log in.
  • Remove the user: they will no longer appear in the platform, but the files they have created will remain accessible. This is recommended if the option is available (grayed out if roles are locked).

After the renewal date:

You may be switching from a SOLIDWORKS Premium license to a SOLIDWORKS Standard license. So, you need to upgrade!

To do this, simply perform an "upgrade," just like you would for an update. See the tutorial here.

If your SOLIDWORKS is not up to date (orange arrow), you will need to perform this operation twice (update THEN upgrade).

What happens if you don't do this?

Upon launching SOLIDWORKS Connected, you will encounter this lovely error message:
