First, let's install CATIA Electrical 2D and 3D (also known as TIC and ELG/ELM).
Introduction
The Electrical licenses are as follows:
- 2D Electrical: System Schematic Engineer (TIC)
- 3D Electrical: Electrical 3D System Designer (ELG)
- Electrical 3D & Manufacturing: Electrical 3D & Manufacturing (ELM)
Prerequisite
We'll tell you right away: if you have MacOS, it's not possible to put SOLIDWORKS on it. You'll need a certified PC - Windows partitions on a Mac may work, but are not certified by Dassault Systèmes.
On a Mac, you have access to the online 3DEXPERIENCE platform, but it can sometimes malfunction. So be careful.
You'll need :
- Windows 10 or 11 Professional (no "Home" edition!)
- Chrome or Edge
- Your up-to-date Windows PC (remember this if your PC is new)
Hardware
With a certified PC, it's even better! You can check compatibility with the Dassault Systèmes Cloud Test.
Security settings
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform uses standard services for e-mail notifications, and all e-mails are sent via @3ds.com (e.g. 3dexperience@3ds.com). Your IT department should not block these e-mails or treat them as spam.
Step 1: Connect to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform
If you have never logged on to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, you need to activate it. To do this, click on the activation link received by e-mail (from Dassault Systèmes and also sent by XDI).
Log in (or create an account) to activate the platform.
Attention: clicking on the activation link assigns a role to the person who logs in. If you are not going to use 3DEXPERIENCE, do not click and forward this to the user.
If your platform has already been activated and you wish to access it again, use this generic link: https://eu1-ifwe.3dexperience.3ds.com
Step 2: assign the roles
If you have purchased only one access to 3DEXPERIENCE, roles are generally assigned automatically. Otherwise, the platform administrator needs to assign them.
1. Go to the "Platform Management" dashboard (ADMIN dashboard).
2. Navigate to the "Members" tab, which allows you to manage the members of your platform and their roles:
3. Next, let's assign the appropriate roles by clicking on the "i" for the role you have purchased:
You can see which members are assigned this role, and you can assign it to other members by clicking on "show all":
Once this is done, the application is available in the "compass," which is the 3DEXPERIENCE icon at the top left:
Step3 : installing SOLIDWORKS Connected
Simply click on the application to initiate the installation.
1. First, you need to download and install the Launcher:
2. Once installed, click on "continue":
Select "install all granted roles" and follow the installation steps:
Step 4: Launch SOLIDWORKS
Click on the SOLIDWORKS icon to launch the application.
Final step: Schedule the onboarding session with XDI.
