      "Design library" folder missing from the design library

      You want to create or use an existing design library, but the "Design Library" folder does not appear in SOLIDWORKS.

      you want to add your own personal library, or using piping elements. Problem: the "design library" folder doesn't appear.      

                             Expectation                           Vs                          Reality

       

      Solution : 

      Step 1 : Make files visible in Windows Explorer

       

      1. Open Windows Explorer
      2. clic on "View"
      3. clic on "Show"
      4. Show "Hidden items"

        The aim is to display the "ProgramData" folder

         


         


        Step 2 : Add the file "design library" to the design library

       

      1. Open SOLIDWORKS and click on Options 


      2. In the system options tab, click on file location


      3. Select "Design library" in the "Show folders for" section 
      4. Clic on "Add"

      5. Select the folder "C:\ProgramData\SOLIDWORKS\SOLIDWORKS 2024\design library" and clic on OK

      6. Validate all and close
