You already have a revision system in place? Restart the count from where you left off.
Before starting:
To fully understand what we are about to go over, I encourage you to read this article that explains how revisions work in SOLIDWORKS Connected:
Warning !
Before performing this operation, make sure you have correctly defined the revision format you wish to use on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
Alright, now that you’re up to speed, we can get started!
Step 1: Display the option in SOLIDWORKS
To select a particular revision when saving to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, you first need to make the field where you can define it visible.
- Go to the Registry Editor (search for the name in Windows).
- Follow this path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Dassault Systemes\SOLIDWORKSPDM
- Add the following key by right-clicking:
Value name: FirstRevisionPropertyMapping - Right-click to modify:
Value data: 1
Base: Hexadecimal
Step 2: Create property in SOLIDWORKS
Next, define the property that will contain the revision value information and fill it in.
Use a revision format for the value that aligns with the one chosen for the platform.
An error message will appear if it does not match.
Step 3: Declare this property as the revision index to be created
Finally, let the 3DEXPERIENCE platform know which property it should read to get the revision value.
- Open the 3DEXPERIENCE panel in SOLIDWORKS
- Go to Tools > Options
- In the option Custom property used as revisions (the last option), enter the name of your property
- Click OK to confirm
- Save the part or assembly on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform
