Collaborate easily with a subcontractor on SOLIDWORKS thanks to the 3DEXPERIENCE Exchange tool.
Context
When working on a project, the designer may have to share his 3D with his subcontractor for the manufacturing stage. The subcontractor may need to make a few changes to the design to make the project viable.
To avoid problems of traceability or lost modifications, 3DEXPERIENCE offers a simplified and comprehensive system.
Prerequisites
Both the designer and the subcontractor must have :
- SOLIDWORKS Connected or "Desktop"
- Add-in 3DEXPERIENCE Exchange for SOLIDWORKS (download here)
Step 1: Export of the 3D by the designer
Once the 3D has been completed and saved, the designer must now export it to his subcontractor.
Use the βExport as Packageβ tool in the 3DEXPERIENCE tab to do this.
Benefits :
- Simplified addition of drawings
- Choice of reading mode for each component (editable or read-only)
Step 2: Modification of the 3D by the subcontractor
Once the 3D model exported by the designer has been received, the subcontractor can import it, modify it and export it again for the designer.
Benefits :
- Rapid verification of 3D files
- Traceability of modified files
Step 3: Import of the 3D modified by the designer
The designer can then look at the elements directly modified by the subcontractor, and easily adapt his design.
Conclusion
The 3DEXPERIENCE Exchange tool makes it easy for designers and subcontractors to work together.
